Music Video for Donny Goines
In October 2008 I travelled to New York City to collaborate on a music video with Donny Goines, Don Hankins, and Aaron Miles. Donny Goines is an up and coming hip hop artist in NYC, Don Hankins and I co-directed this music video and Aaron Miles produced the Music Video. We shot this video on a Panasonic HVX-200 with no money, no lights, or any other equipment. With resources being low we decided to turn our otherwise weakness into a strength shooting in places of New York that we would never have been able to gain access too with addtional equipment, including Time Square at night.
I edited this music video using Final Cut Studio 5 and did the VFX in Adobe After Effects, motion tracking the time square shots, and rotoscoping the text on the Apollo. I used Cinema 4d to create the 3d titles at the beginning and used a mask in after effects to make the Directors title appear that it was behind the car. I also used Final Cut Pro's 3 way color corrector to limit the color at the beginning of the video slowly adding more color as the video progressed. I felt that starting with fewer colors and slowly introducing the rest of the color wheel worked well since the theme of the video was always moving forward.
The music video premeired on MTVU's show the freshmen and can be seen on MTV.com.
